I can't argue with you. What you say it's correct.
I have no numbers to compare, but I can say after more then 12 years of work with Lotus Notes in my country, where several companies have moved to another system. Recently a small company, around 160 users, have moved to exchange.
The problem is not having some ads in cnn.com, forbes, etc... I don't understand marketing strategies, but no doubt, Bill Gates is a genius in marketing, and people prefers the system they know better, and MS is doing this better than IBM.
Going back to this small company, where a new CFO wanted to move to MS outlook, and the problems they had before (with Lotus Notes) are still here (with MS exchange), so the problem wasn't the software, but internet connection, ISP anti spam system, firewall configuration and so on. What I can say is that the employees are very happy today, and they are not complaining about the very same problems they had before! So, we can understand the CFO decision as well as users approval are affected by the same Bill Gate's marketing machine.
In my region Lotus Notes is being used ONLY by international companies, using Lotus worldwide. I can say here the product is almost dead. By the way, there is one big american company, with a few hundreds applications running on domino today and moving to MS, as mail and applications.
Today I keep my places with Lotus Domino, but I'm working with other systems. I just need to keep working.
